Liliaceae 百合科 – Hemerocallis fulva L. 萱草 / 金針菜

Native in Asia, flowers of this plants are beautiful. The buds called “Kum Jum” (golden needle) are widely used in cooking and medical treatment of depressive disorders. This photo was taken in the Hong Kong Park, Hong Kong.

The Flickr photos below demonstrate what I believe to be true to type Hemerocallis fulva. Orange with a dark maroon chevron. There are other daylilies listed as Hemerocallis fulva but I believe this are the true color and pattern.

 

Vigorous spreading habit is another  distinctive trait of Hemerocallis fulva, Here Hemerocallis fulva is acting as a ground cover under  the tree canopy. These plants may spread and fill in densely without ever blooming
